Senate District 14 caucused late into the night. We elected our final National Delegate position (Ian Davis for alternate) around 3:30am, and several hundred tired, agitated, and caring State Delegates went home.
I went to sleep around 4am, and I considered returning to the convention in the early morning, but that decision was not mine to make. My body decided to wake up at 10am, and so it was.
I arrived during the Hillary Clinton speech, and as she suspended her campaign and endorsed Obama... the video feed went out! The crowd responded as you would imagine, and the speakers decided to go on with the schedule.
It's 1:30pm on the Convention Floor, and I've had the privilege of spending the weekend at my first Democratic State Convention. Speaker after speaker addressed the convention. We're tired, inspired, and maybe even a bit bored, but we're all here to support change in America through the Democratic Party.
I support Barack Obama for President of the United States.
I'm sitting in the Ballroom holding the Hispanic Caucus right now. One thing we should be moving for is Unity. Energizing the Hispanic vote for Hillary today might not be the best course of action for winning the General Election, but the candidates for the DNC positions of the Hispanic Caucus are doing just that.
My name is Tanis De Luna, and I am running for a position as a National Delegate from SD14 or At-Large. If you haven't yet decided on which delegate candidates you are interested in supporting, please consider voting for me as your first or second choice!
Why should you vote for me?
1) I am an Obama Organizing Fellow heading to Fort Lauderdale, Florida this summer.
2) I spent New Years 2008 in Iowa, volunteering for the Obama campaign in the Council Bluffs area, I was a Precinct Captain and a Youth Turnout Intern with the campaign in Austin, and I volunteer as the "on call" computer person at the Austin Obama Headquaters.
3) I submitted and passed a resolution at my Precinct Caucus for Election Day Registration.
4) I wrote a music video documentary! I've been handing out DVDs of the movie in person, and maybe you've seen me! I distribute "Adventures in Hope" online at: www.adventuresinhope.com
