Well the news is slowly trickling out to the wider world that Obama has indeed won Texas! Clinton won the primary, but by a much smaller margin than Obama's victory in the caucuses, meaning Obama will net more delegates from Texas -- and, despite what pundits need to declare in time for commercial break, delegates are what determine the outcome of this whole nominating process.
And, remember, if someone points out the popular vote lead for Clinton in Texas, simply agree with them and point out the popular vote lead for Obama overall.
Of course, if the mainstream journalists would press the point to Bill Clinton about his earlier firewall words, i would be a little happier.
So what else can you do while you rest up? How about a little contribution to sweeten the victory. This campaign, this movement, this urge to re-shape our country won't be led by others. It's up to us. Obama is set to announce a $50,000,000+ month, and that is pretty big. But, Texans for Obama, let's make March even bigger! Give what you can to our campaign!

Keep up the phonebanking and blockwalking, Texans for Obama! We are tied and almost at the finish line. If we can swing Texas for Obama now, we can swing Texas for the Democrats in November. We cannot look back and say i could have done one more hour or 20 more calls. Obamanos!
MySA.com is reporting...
...Obama scheduled stops in San Antonio, Carrollton and Houston (for Monday Mar. 3).
Obama will spend election night on Tuesday in San Antonio, at an as-yet-unannounced location.

Some good Democrats in Bexar county (The Rules Committee, Zada True-Courage, Ian Straus, Larry Meads, Dick Waits, Nancy Timmer-Froment, and Mark Camann) have put together an excellent online training for how to run your caucus:
http://bexardemocrats.org/2008PrecinctConventionTraining.html
They walk you thru the forms step by step, as well as provide loads of practical advice (Bring pens, calculators, and make sure at least one supporter is there by 7pm to get the packet!)
Some key elements:
-Preparation: what to do before the convention
-Eighteen steps for conducting the precinct convention
-Practical exercises in calculation (the math part!)
-Resolutions: a few resources
-Solutions to the practical exercises
Read it, know it, share it, please!

Hi All,
2008 is a very important election year. If you are registered to vote in the State of Texas - our Texas state primary is March 4th. Your vote is very important in picking the Democratic nominee for President. I am supporting Barack Obama. Barack Obama is a man who can unite our country despite our differences in race and ethnicity, socioeconomic standing, geographical area, religious affiliation and political leaning.
Barack Obama is a man who inspires. He has rallied millions of young voters and ordinary citizens like you and I to stand up and believe that the same old Washington ways are ineffective and hurting our country. He voted against the war in Iraq from the very beginning. He has excellent plans to solve our problems regarding immigration with fairness, compassion and integrity. He is the candidate for change, the candidate who wants to do things differently in Washington.

cross posted at Election Inspection
Previously we examined delegate allocation and the caucus process in Texas. The short version is that:
- Texas has 193 pledged delegates, as well as 35 unpledged delegates
- The Statewide Primary vote, by itself, determines no delegates and is merely a "beauty contest," except insofar as it translates into delegates elected in State Senate Districts, or through caucuses (in order to participate in caucuses, one must also have voted in the primary). It is very much possible that whoever wins the sum of the Senatorial District Primaries will not win the majority of Texas' delegates.
- 126 pledged delegates will be allocated proportionally in 31 separate primary elections conducted in each of Texas' State Senate Districts.
- 67 pledged delegates will be allocated through Texas' caucus system, the first round of which will be held in precincts across Texas at 7:15 PM on March 4th. 42 of these will be rank and file "at large" delegates, and will ultimately come from ordinary people who participate at their precinct caucuses, while 25 will be party leaders and elected officials (PLEOs).
This post will analyze how Texas' delegates are most likely to be split between Senator Obama and Senator Clinton.

hey all
the campaign is arriving in texas now, and there should be offices in the next few days/week, but they don't know what the merchandise count will be like.
if you bulk order from online (http://store.barackobama.com) you can email your receipt to awalker@barackobama.com (subject: Online order for Texas) and she will move the order to the front of the processing line. that should get it filled in a day or so, she pledges.
thanks
mario
