It's official...
In Historic Vote, Obama Officially Claims Democratic Nomination
Washington Post
With the weight of history hanging over them, Hillary Rodham Clinton and the Democratic Party formally chose Sen. Barack Obama as the nominee for the White House, elevating the first African American to that exalted post and putting a black man a step from the presidency.
With a theatrical flourish, the roll call vote was rushed to allow Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to suspend the vote and "in the spirit of unity, with the goal of victory," declare Obama the nominee by aclaimation.
"Let's declare with one voice that Barack Obama is our candidate," Clinton said to thunderous applause. |

| So, I for one am very glad that Obama has come back from his well-deserved vacation tanned, rested, and swinging! I say let the Veep choice twist in the wind while the media spends cycles amplifying McCain's housing gaffe, and hopefully gets past the period where his deficiencies, mistakes and lies go unchallenged -- as if being proud of not knowing how to use a computer was a good thing, or not knowing the Sunni and Shiite are different and that it matters to them, and as we are involved in their country it should matter to us, the cross in the sand story...
So much weakness and misdirection from McCain and his cronies, and I am quite happy to see Obama attack back.
Check out the latest:
and, ouch, 'he can't even remember anymore'... that's a solid line. What do you think of the newly assertive Obama?

| Our all-volunteer grassroots movement here in Texas has come a long way over the last year and a half.
In 2006, before Barack Obama had announced for president, Texans for Obama started as a small book club at El Sol y La Luna on South Congress. Our all-volunteer group grew quickly, and we organized some of the biggest rallies in the country. We have never been a formal group and exist only online and at neighborhood watering holes like Scholz Garten and Victory Grill. Our diverse network of volunteers has worked hard over the last year, and we should be proud of the movement we've helped build.
Now it's time to vote. Not in November, but in August.
The annual Austin Chronicle Best-of-Austin Awards are up for grabs. For the "Grassroots Movement" category, Texans for Obama humbly asks for your vote. The deadline to vote is September 2, so vote today and spread the word to your friends.
Thanks to all our wonderful volunteers who have helped make a difference. There's less than 75 days left, so keep up the good work!
Here are some more Obama-friendly suggestions that you might want to consider in the Austin Chronicle Poll...

| Good news -- the Obama campaign is re-opening an office in Austin for the Texas staff. Staff will use it to lay the groundwork for victory this November. The space is great, but the staff could use the support of Austin residents to make the campaign even more effective.
I noticed that the office needs the following supplies. Can any of the great Texans for Obama help?
- Fax Machine
- Room Dividers
- Microwave
- Computer Printers
- Office Copy Machine
- Area Rugs
Any infrastructure that we can donate will allow the campaign to invest all of its resources into field staff and persuasion materials. If you can spare any of these items until November, please shoot me an email and I'll take care of it!

Hey Fellow Texans for Obama;
We are a group of neighbors and fellow citizens from Fort Worth and the surrounding areas of Arlington, Grand Prairie, Haltom City, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Colleyville and Grapevine who care about this country and know that we have much work to do to ensure that Senator Barack Obama, a great candidate, becomes a great president of the United States.
By working together for his election, and that of other Democrats in the Fort Worth area, we know that we can go far to get Tarrant County, Texas moving in the right direction.

We invite you to bookmark this site for information and community support, as we build a strong coalition for much needed change and improvement in Tarrant County. Over the next few weeks, we will be revealing new tools and methods for communicating with each other as we work together to elect a new president and chart a course for a better future!
That's a big challenge. Can we do it?
Yes we can.

We need phone bankers and supporters who want to come and canvas. We have housing for them. We are a DEFCON 1. We are at serious mode here. New Mexico is a swing state for this election. It would great if you could get this word out to everyone. We need Texas."

| I predict Barack will floor McCain at the polls following Saturday's "Faith and Politics" Forum.
I highly recommend y'all go to our get-together in East Austin!
When: Sat., Aug. 16th, 6:30pm-9:30pm
Where: Greater Mt Zion Baptist Church, 1809 Pennsylvania, Austin, TX
Barack will do great because the format is they'll ask Barck questions and he'll answer without Old Man McCain hearing the answers, then the samne w/ McCain...This is not a debate. But McCain is gonna get crushed.
My prediction, Barack's poll#'s will go up by 7% after this forum! Any predictions??
Best,
David Kobierowski

| The mass media is reporting that McCain has indicated he is "open" to picking a "pro-choice" VP...
Kay Bailey Hutchison is considered a "moderate" on abortion issues...
Is McCain looking toward Kay Bailey Hutchison?? We know that Kay Bailey has her eyes on the TX Gov position, and in recent surveys, such as the Lyceum Poll from June, 08', Hitchison has finished on the top of the list for Gov selection for Republican Texans. But how about VP??
If Kay Bailey is picked, this will be one of the oldest Pres/VP candidate pairs. She's 65 years old, and John McCain will be 72 years old on August 29th.
Best,
David Kobierowski
