| The Dallas Morning News blog is reporting State Rep. Rafael Anchia adds his voice to the growing list of Hispanic elected officials supporting Barack Obama. Joining State Rep. Juan Garcia, Austin councilman and former president of the Firefighters Union Mike Martinez, and many more, Anchia sums it up nicely:

So why is Anchia supporting Obama? For exactly the same reasons I support him: "He's allowed me to dream about a better future for our country." Obama will help lift the morale of the country at a time, Anchia said, when "we definitely have a morale problem."
He thinks focusing on the race barrier between blacks and Hispanics is exactly the wrong way to go. Rather, the focus should be on opportunity. Obama's success means that, for all racial minorities, a huge barrier has been broken down in American politics. "I look at him and say, hey, my child can be president of the United States," Anchia said.
