| Our all-volunteer grassroots movement here in Texas has come a long way over the last year and a half.
In 2006, before Barack Obama had announced for president, Texans for Obama started as a small book club at El Sol y La Luna on South Congress. Our all-volunteer group grew quickly, and we organized some of the biggest rallies in the country. We have never been a formal group and exist only online and at neighborhood watering holes like Scholz Garten and Victory Grill. Our diverse network of volunteers has worked hard over the last year, and we should be proud of the movement we've helped build.
Now it's time to vote. Not in November, but in August.
The annual Austin Chronicle Best-of-Austin Awards are up for grabs. For the "Grassroots Movement" category, Texans for Obama humbly asks for your vote. The deadline to vote is September 2, so vote today and spread the word to your friends.
Thanks to all our wonderful volunteers who have helped make a difference. There's less than 75 days left, so keep up the good work!
