The words and vision of Barack Obama are what moved me to shake off the oppression of the past 7 years and stand up to support the principles this country was founded on: respect, integrity, leadership...and hope. In the spirit that has inspired so many of us these past months, I humbly ask for your support as we select our delegates to the national convention.
Barack re-activated my idealism and led me to organize my precinct, place more than 250 telephone calls, knock on at least that many doors and help us not only survive, but thrive amidst the crush of our primary night caucus. I also co-founded and helped launch Circle C Area Democrats, a grassroots effort to inspire and turn out the rapidly growing numbers of democrats migrating to southwest Travis County.
To be chosen as our representative in Denver is more than a great honor; it is a critical step in our movement to reclaim the future. If so chosen, I will be there to fight for Barack while giving voice to all in our large and unique district.
I will also use the visibility of being a delegate to promote the Democratic Party and its mission to take back our state in the name of common sense. From the suburbs of Austin to the far corners of the hill country, I will work to register new voters, boost party ID and support all of our state and local candidates.
(Please attend if you can -- we are close, but not quite done yet! - promoted by mariochampion)
The Travis portion of SD25 will be meeting this coming Sunday and Monday to discuss strategy and do a little training for the upcoming state convention. And of course introduce ourselves to each other. Come to one or come to both. All of our Obama delegates and alternates in SD25 are encouraged to attend.
Via TalkingPointsMemo, ABCNews is reporting that Obama has captured the superdelegate lead!
And while every news and blog organization has slightly different metrics it seems, hopefully this news can serve to chip away at what must be the last tenacious restraints keeping the super-Ds from making their preferences public.
ABC News' Karen Travers Reports: For the first time this campaign season, Barack Obama has surpassed Hillary Clinton's support among superdelegates, according to the ABC News delegate estimate.
Sen. Obama, D-Ill., picked up two superdelegates this morning giving him a new metric to tout in addition to his current commanding leads in pledged delegates, popular votes, states won, and money raised.
Rep. Donald Payne, D-N.J., switched his endorsement from Clinton to Obama and Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., endorsed Obama. DeFazio was previously uncommitted.
With these endorsements, Obama has the support of 267 superdelegates and Clinton has 265 superdelegates.
May 10 - Vote For Change Kickoff and Voter Reg Drive
With this election, we have the chance to ensure that more voters than ever take an active stake in our country's future. On May 10, Obama for America will launch Vote for Change, a national voter registration and mobilization drive with kickoffs in all 50 states. This event is the kickoff for our area. After a brief training, we'll hit the streets to register voters. Please join us!
I realize you have received several emails, letters and/or phone calls from delegates eager to help Barack Obama secure the presidency. While everyone has very strong credentials and passion about supporting Senator Obama, I truly believe that I embody the grassroots foundation upon which the Obama campaign was built. This movement began with Barack Obama and people just like you and me desiring something different from the status quo, exuding hope, becoming active, and voting for change. I would be honored to be your champion for change at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
I was having such a good night watching the returns. Whoo Hoo!!! We are down to two points in Indiana!!!
...until I heard the folks on MSNBC suggest that the Obama campaign might pay off the HRC campaign debt as part of a condition for her stepping aside. Obama is not seriously thinking about doing this is he? Being in the right about the War, the gas tax debate, and practically every measure of moral character would be nothing compared to paying off your rival with your supporters donations just to get ahead.
If Obama wants to pay off the HRC debt or repay the 5 million dollars she lent her campaign then let him pay out of his own pocket.
Well i know it's still unclear what will happen exactly in Indiana (with Gary still not reporting) but in any case, Obama wins the night!
Obama increased his popular vote margin by almost 200,000 votes, with a big win in North Carolina TWICE the size of Sen. Clinton's primary win in Texas.

AND he comes away with more new delegates after tonight -- meaning Sen. Clinton is actually FURTHER behind than before, with fewer delegates up for grabs in the remaining 5 or 6 contests.
AND all this after weeks of Rev. What-his-name filled the newspapers and news shows. After weeks and debates and meet the press wasted on issues not germaine to most voters... Well, Obama still won the night. Americans aren't so dumb or distractable as mainstream media seems to believe.
And for as long as this primary show is running and for as tense as it may sometimes feel -- and there were quite a number of folks who stepped into Victory Grill tonight and announced 'whew, have i been nervous lately' -- just remember new democrats are being made and engaged and that is good for the party all the way down the ticket.
My name is Sharon Drew Morgen (Sharon Drew is my first name). I'm writing to introduce myself in the hopes that you might consider me to be an Obama Delegate to the National Convention. My vision is to do what it takes to get Obama elected as the next President. And I am writing to:
+ Get your input as to how I can personally help make that happen,
+ Elicit your trust that I will work toward our common goal;
+ Start a community dialogue to ensure we all get heard, regardless of who gets nominated for National.
As with any other 'job interview', I will offer my credentials, and then write a brief note to explain my absolute passion for Obama, the hope he is bringing to the world, and my beliefs in the collaborative nature of his vision. I, too, have been on a life-long mission to make the world a better place, and understanding what Obama is doing makes me feel less alone, more hopeful, and more energized to keep going. As we all know, trying to change the world is a dark and lonely job, but one that is now far more probable as a result of Obama's candidacy. But more on that later.
!SI SE PUEDE! My name is James Akers. I am asking for your vote for delegate to the national convention. I am Hispanic, originally from El Paso, Texas.
What makes me worthy of your vote? - I show my enthusiasm through action! I have canvassed with an "Obamican" in Austin, made 200 + phone calls to voters in my precinct, hosted two organizing events, and attended countless other events in Austin and Hays County. Working closely with Adam Ukman, my volunteers and I helped deliver victories for Obama in precincts 440, 441, 443, 444 and 449. At our "prima-caucus" in 443, we waved signs all day, strategically placed volunteers at each entrance, and handed out about 150 hot dogs to Obama supporters encouraging them to come back to caucus. With great support from a very passionate team of volunteers (Kathi Thomas, Jonathan Steinberg, Eric Herrmann, Karen Ford and others) we helped lead our 443 delegation at the Hays County convention. Now, I am working hard with the rest of SD25 leaders to maximize our efforts at the state convention.
Do you know if there is a Texans for Obama supporter who would be willing to donate use of their car for our organizer Rahshiem. He has a good deal of traveling back and forth from Houston to do and does not have a car in town.
Anybody? Let's not play the old, "for want of a a nail a shoe was lost, for want of a shoe..." and let's get this man some wheels!
Another Important Election Deadline! Although we know that Obama is very very close to wrapping up the Democratic nomination, all these primary contests are important. We cannot count on others to do the work we know needs to be done, so to quote somebody: We are the ones we have been waiting for.
